Franchise- the word derives from France meaning honesty or freedom. Not a typical thought when it comes to some mainstream chain stores, but a few high end whole lifestyle franchises give both the consumer and the small entrepreneur a value that is true to the sense of the words freedom and honesty. Freedom in the sense of being able to choose a lifestyle based on desirable healthy holistic practices and honesty in that the management teams have hit upon proven successful businesses with a cooperative backup support system. In all goes hand in hand when a franchise owner understands support from his/her management team in how it plays in the arena of the retailer’s relationship to the consumer. While “Purity and detoxification” were the leading wellness trends of product launches in 2006, the current focus of this healthy consumer market is moving toward a complete package approach that supports better living lifestyles.

Jamba Juice whose motto is “Today is the first day of the rest of your health” is a perfect example of this trend. Making their smoothies from 100% real fruit and juice concentrates, Jamba functional drinks like Heart Defender, Protein Berry Workout or Coldbuster caters to the customer who wants both convenience and healthy living. This made for a great partnership as Jamba Juice entered into strategic operating agreements to open stores within several Whole Foods locations in 1997.

“I’m surprised there aren’t more companies creating a culture beyond selling a soulful experience for the customer. That’s been the basis for our success.” Says founder Kirk Perron who started the company in San Louis Obispo, Ca in 1990 and sold the franchise sixteen years later in March 2006 for $265 million dollars.

Jamba Juice is not alone in creating this “culture beyond selling”. Elements for Women, the hip, South Beach-based diet and fitness brand features a balanced approach to a healthy lifestyle that melds body, beauty, and mind. For fitness workouts, you can also perform simple exercises at home or in the office if you don’t have time to go to the gym. Simple activities like walking, running, swimming, or dancing are best form of exercises that can be done at home. But if you are serious about getting physically fit and if you have enough time and budget to do it, gym membership is the best option for you.

When it comes to healthy eating, nothing can be healthier than eating vegetables, fresh fruits and plenty of pure water. A healthy eating habit means avoiding heavy dinners, junk foods, and plenty of sweets and fatty foods. To avoid taking unhealthy snacks, it is advisable that you eat complex carbohydrates, vegetables, and protein-rich foods during meals. Other healthy foods that you can take are nuts like cashews, almonds, and walnuts. Drinking a cup of herbal tea instead of coffee is also a healthy option.

To practice a healthy lifestyle is about stopping unhealthy vices like smoking and drinking alcoholic beverages.

For parents, you have an added responsibility in taking care for the wellness and healthy life of your children aside from your own physical health and well-being.

Health care is also a very important part of living a healthy life. This covers regular medical checkups and screenings. It will help you reduce your spending on health care if a health problem is treated earlier. However, if you are already sick and in need of medication, you can ask your physician on switching to cheaper yet effective alternatives.

Always put in your mind that living a healthy life will lead you to living a happy, fulfilling and satisfying life.

We all live 2 lives, we have the life we actually live and the life we dream of living. What’s standing in your way are little lies or resistance. Resistance to change causes us to lie to ourselves all the time. Our mind considers these healthy lies and it makes us feel better about not being the person we dream of being.

Here are 3 “healthy” lies you must stop telling yourself for they are keeping you from the healthy life full of happiness you dream of.

Lie # 1: I can’t live a healthy life because of my genetics

Think to yourself for a minute…is that really true?

Why do we give ourselves this free pass? We tell ourselves things like “well, my whole family is overweight…”, “well, my mother or father had cancer…”, “well, I’m destined to be this way…” This is our resistance talking and keeping you from the healthy life you deserve. It’s a bunch of baloney. Did you know that by the time you reach 50, your lifestyle, including your diet, determines 80% of how you age! The remaining 20% is inherited through genetics.

Truth: Genetics do not determine your health or quality of life, it is your choices.

Lie #2: I can’t live a healthy life because I have no control when it comes to food

Think to yourself for a minute…is this really true?

You absolutely have control over what you put into your body. Your inner resistance is making you believe this crazy thought. Be careful, sometimes you cannot trust what you think, because it’s simply not true.

Truth: You have a choice. I used to eat whatever I wanted and it was all food that did nothing to nourish my body. It took being diagnosed with an auto immune disorder that made me stop and think about what I was doing to myself. I made a choice to give my body the nutrients I need every day because of what I want out of life. I want to not just watch my children grow, but be actively involved. Show them how to run and get the winning goal, show them the view from the top of the mountain, dance at their weddings, and play vigorously with my future grandchildren.

Lie #3: I can’t live a healthy life because it’s too late, the damage has been done

Think to yourself for a minute…is this really true?

Is it possible that after years of neglecting your body, that you could live the healthful life you were meant to live?

It’s never too late! Our human body has the incredible ability to heal itself given the right nutrients. The dietary and lifestyle choices you make everyday help to shape the underlying causes of most diseases and illnesses.

Truth: You control your health destiny, you! Nobody else can. It’s your personal responsibility to take care of yourself. Stop telling yourself these little health lies!
